So, I did a great job on the training for about a week and a half...then I stopped! This is me starting it back up again. September seems to be a crazy stressful month and this one was no exception. With going back to school & homework, starting the soccer season, starting the cub scout season and the busy month at work, there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in a day.
October will be busy as well but I will be prepared! Here are a few things that we have on tap for October:
~ a quick trip to Arizona to christen my god-daughter.
~ a quick trip to D.C. to cheer for a friend completing a goal
~ the big event of the fall for Cub Scouts (Spooky Trail -- and this year we get to do the scaring)
~ Halloween (stay tuned for costume)
~ Cub Scout popcorn sales -- be ready to get hit up for purchases if you live in the area
I will hopefully check in before the end of the month but I can NEVER guarantee that!
Hope everyone is doing well!

1 week down .... 90 days to go
So the first week of school is done and we seem to have survived. After the first day of school I asked Talmage what he thought and this is what I was told.
"My teacher is REALLY nice. We don't have homework on the weekends!" I guess that's where the priorities are in the 4th grade. :)
Talmage -- the 2nd day of 4th grade.
As far as getting the rest of my life in order...I made progress there. Today I took advantage of cancelled sports due to weather to organize some of the house. I cleaned out my craft closet and my bedroom closet. I also organized the laundry room. For the last 7 days, I have worked out 5 days...that helps too.
Now I just have figure out what day's we are going to have activities so we can figure out the rest of the time!
Take care everyone!

The 4th Grade Plan
Today is the first day of school for my little bundle of joy. Believe it or not, he is starting the 4th Grade!! I have decided to also start some school today. My school will be getting myself in order. This morning I received the following from a friend of mine:
Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio
"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:
1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone for everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life.. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.....
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."
This is my new outlook on life. My first mid-goal is to do a combination jog/walk of a 5k in December. Yesterday I proved to myself I could walk one and survive... now for the next step. Here we go!!!

Mission Accomplished!
I did it. It wasn't fast and it wasn't easy but today I accomplished a goal that I set about a year ago. Today I completed a 5k! We walked it (with my friend Suzy) and finished in just under 50 minutes!
Now I am tired and sore and thinking about working towards running at least 1/2 of one in December!

Home Alone
Talmage is on Nantucket with his Uncle Will and Aunt Melissa this week so I am taking this time to catch up on stuff that has been falling to the side. My work-work is actually at a manageable level this week (lots of people must be on vacation) which is nice & I am not watching a clock to make sure I pick up the kids on time.
My home-work is a little less up-to-speed. Though the laundry is done, the rest of the house needs picking up and possibly cleaning. I think my puppy would also appreciate a LONG walk and I should do something on the treadmill that I have been avoiding... :)
I can't believe there are only 2 more weeks (not even) until school starts again! But more importantly....Talmage is going to be a 4th Grader!!! That is ... where did the time go?
To celebrate my being home alone, tonight I am going for birthday drinks with some friends and then tomorrow I am having dinner with another friend. Ahh...the life of a single girl!

The Update...
Ok...it's been a few weeks. This is what I have been up to:
- Bought a new 2009 Volvo XC90
- 5 days later ... crashed new 2009 Volvo XC90 (actually rear-ended another car and the damage is repairable and everyone is OK)
- Dealt with insurance on fixing the car and renting a car for the time.
- Meet with teacher on current status of son on different items.
- Lots of trips into NYC for work
- Lots of late nights of work at home
- Lots of baseball games and practices
- Lots of soccer games and practices
That's where I have been, in case you are wondering!
Now, in case I miss some more weeks after this, following is what I am going to be up to:
- I think I will get my fixed car back on Tuesday or Wednesday
- I have lots of work to get done.
- We are having some friends over on Memorial Day
- Oh, and I am going to get serious to run a 5K on Labor Day! I can do this over the summer.
I hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day weekend!
